PMAG Comparison Part 2

Getting to the bottom of things.

Gen 1 is basic and simple.  It slides on from the front of the magazine.  The hole in the center is for a stud on the lock plate to engage in.  It makes taking them apart simple.  Push up the stud, slide the floorplate forward and the spring comes flying out!

The Rev M introduced the provision to store the dust cover on the floor plate, so it needed a couple of changes.

It got little notches for the front and back straps of the cover.  It's also interchangeable with the older floor plate.

Remember when I said the floor plate slides off forward?  Apparently if you drop your rifle just right on a hard surface (like a driveway) the impact causes the lock plate to bounce up and the floor plate, being unlocked now, slides off from the impact.  The spring flies out with your bullets now.

The Gen M3 floor plate slides on from the back!  It also has a little hole for to allow water to escape from the magazine should you go swimming with your rifle.

Don't you swim with YOUR rifle?  What will you do when a manatee charges you?
