A local tuner shop I've done business with before is willing to try swapping my tires from the steel rims to the Camaro rims.
They're also going to dig into the body control module and activate my domelights so they come on when the doors open. This is known as a 7Y6 delete after the SPID code.
I'm going to have them check the boxes to shut off the daytime running lights and to activate the remote start option. Remote start will take more work to get functioning, but the first step is the BCM.
I think you can do the things you mention if you have a GM Tech-2 scanner tool. I had to buy one (actually a Chinese knock-off that runs GM's software and looks like it was made on the same tooling as GM's tool but the GM nameplate spot is empty) to disable the magnetic shocks on my C6 when I replaced the failing ones with the stiffest Billsteins available. The magnetic ride shocks... IF you can find them, and they're near unobtanium, are around $1000 each. The set of four Billsteins were around $500...
ReplyDeleteThe Tech-2 tool shows a lot of things in the BCM module that even the high end commercial MAC and Snap-On don't know about. It was a challenge to get ahold of one. I finally was able to get one out of a seller in Hong Kong after several attempts to buy from Amazon or other eBay vendors failed.
Tech-2 cannot do much of anything with my car. I was sitting in the car with the guy and saw the "Use GDS" message on the screen.
DeletePeople get very confused about the Tech2, GDS, GDS2 distinctions and they're all "Tech2" when someone talks about it.
Yes, I have tried VXDIAG. No, I cannot afford the software that would let that work. There's untrustworthy emulations of the GDS and GDS2 software; but they don't access the SPS and SIS portions of the BCM or other modules. In essence, it makes my laptop a bulky code scanner.
Woops, that was me, --swj
