With the big lens on, in program mode I could focus on the turtle's head or its shell.

Remembering how depth of field works, I changed to aperture priority and cranked the f-stop.

ReplyDeleteFWIW, I rarely ever take my DSLR off aperture priority.
ReplyDeleteIf you go into macrophotography, taking pictures of little things on a table top (like Lego characters or small gun parts) it will become second nature. Since 90% of the time I photographing fairly small things in macro mode these days, it stays in aperture priority.
The only exception is if I'm trying to shoot an airshow, then I put on the longest telephoto I've got, crank up the ISO, and use Shutter speed priority.
I macro in manual mostly.
