I have never been so happy to be in a state that's non-adjacent to Illinois in my life.
Was the bill named, "let's hand the streets to the criminals"?
I suspect that vigilance societies will be making a strong return, especially where the mafia already runs things.
The mafia, after all, has its roots in providing protection from crime dating back to Republican Rome.

Arson?! Where I live if someone is committing arson and people are in the building killing the arsonist is justified.

Moved from central IL to North TX just over 2 years ago... Things were already heading in that direction, just not quite THIS much... So many of my friends up there just counting the days to retire (especially those who are in law enforcement) and GTFO... I pulled the cord early with my "retirement fund" being self managed (worked at a University) and moved to another place that had similar benefits, etc... But, yeah between this and the silly high taxes to cover the official retirement funds? Weird how a State not paying it's taxes causes issues? Or allowing politically "connected" individuals the ability to "work" a single day at say the CTA and be fully vested in that retirement fund... NO possibility of abuse there of course... The University retirement system was in place of Social Security where the employee paid ~ the same as SS tax (and were NOT eligible for SS later for those years) and the State was to do the same for their contribution... They "paused" paying in for quite some time because... Well, one party was in charge and they could I suppose? A few years later there is a "crisis" that no one could have foreseen... Well, unless you understood basic math :-)... But that is the Illinois way...

ReplyDeleteYeah, nothing like creating a society that is so screwed up that the People start using the guns they have to stop the decay of their society that the government, you remember, the people society Hires to keep things working, so the government can pretend the reason society is going to hell is because the law abiding citizens have stopped praying to accept those things they can not change and started changing the things they can not accept.
ReplyDeleteJust let all the criminals out who _might_ be eligible for just probation if they are convicted? Sure! What could POSSIBLY go wrong? The arguments of the people who are for this kind of insanity just boggle the mind.
