Did You Rehire Dan?

Something that sticks out in this CBS article.

The repeated use of the phrase "registered firearms".

For example:

Florida comes in at number 30, with 10.2 guns for every 1,000 residents. That's a staggering 199,828 registered firearms dispersed among 19,552,860 people.

Just one teensy little problem with this phrasing.

What registration?

Florida doesn't have gun registration.  Nor do most states.  Even some of the states with registration are actually "it depends"!

Oh wait!  This is how much NFA is in each state!  Not a good proxy for gun ownership at all since NFA could be banned and Title 1 firearms be readily available.  Iowa is a good example of this when I lived there (I don't know if that's changed or not).
