Contrarian

I recently noticed something that amuses me.

The USMC is transitioning to the M27 IAR and dropping the M249.

Eliminating the belt-fed light machine gun in favor of an automatic rifle.

The Royal Army made the opposite decision and dropped the L86A2 automatic rifle in favor of the L110 belt fed light machine gun.

The M249 and L110 are both variants of the FN MINIMI.

The Royal Army is, at present, apparently phasing out 5.56 in favor of 7.62 for section MGs and going back to an FN MAG variant, the L7A2.
