I decided that I wanted to use my computer again rather than wait for it to finish scanning a drive that Windows can't write to.
AVG doesn't let me exclude that drive from the scan nor scan individual drives.
But it didn't find anything on the OS drive.
I'm going with that. For now.
AVG doesn't let me exclude that drive from the scan nor scan individual drives.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure about that?
Note that I am running the paid version of AVG Internet Security. I don't know if other versions work this way.
If you open the AVG interface, and go to Menu-Settings-General-Exceptions, you get to a page that says:
"Choose specific files, folders, or websites to exclude from all of our shields and scans."
From there you have two options: Add Exception or Add Advanced Exception
If you choose Add Advanced Exception, you can browse items (including drives & folders) that can be excluded from scans.
As to scanning individual drives, if you integrated AVG into Windows menus (an option during install), you can open File Explorer, select multiple items, right click, and choose "Scan selected items for viruses" from the context menu.
I *WAS* sure about that. Now, thanks to your help, I've told it to exclude the Mac OS drive.
