Today is the 79th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

It's not far from being gone from living memory, so it's up to us to remember.

  1. I used to read "The Longest Day" around every D-Day in Normandy. I also used to read the official US Army history on the invasion of Kwajalein (Jan 31-Feb4, 1944.) I don't forget. Ever.

  2. I have several relatives that served in WWII, but none part of D-Day. My uncle Sterling served in the Pacific theater and was in Okinawa at the time. I believe that my uncle John and my Mom's uncle Ray were in Italy at that time. D-Day was quite an undertaking, especially given how many other fronts we were fighting on at the same time. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the men that fought and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free.

We have to remember that the idiots on the left have led us to where we're only one step away from being back into the kinds of situations that lead up to the start of WWII. We need to be vigilant to make sure that what was accomplished on D-Day wasn't just a temporary victory.

  4. I visited the beaches and cemeteries of Normandy a few days before the anniversary in 2019.

It took me two days to recover the ability to speak.

I had no family there on D-day, but the power of heroism and sacrifice is strong in that place.
