Optimism

In the upcoming Florida Governor's race I've discovered a bit of hope.

I tend to vote against candidates.

I tend to vote Republican because I'm voting against the Democrat.

Last time around I would have voted for anyone whom wasn't Charlie "Suntan" Chirst.

For US Senate I've been voting for whomever wasn't Bill Nelson.

This year, for Governor anyway, I think I can vote for someone.  Ron De Santis is not only NOT Andrew Gillum, but he's pro-gun in a way I've not seen in a Republican here in a very long time.

I'm waiting to see what the campaigns do, but even with Gillum polling well, I am reminded that those polls, like doing well in the Iowa primaries for President, have proven to be poor predictors of elections.

It bears mentioning and repeating that a huge section of the nation woke up during the Obama administration and is pissed.

Trump's nomination and election are symptoms of that anger.  Remember, Hillary was a lock until real numbers started coming in.  Not exit polls, not likely voter polls but actual counts.

Gillum is the same hateful Democrat we've been watching attack Brett Kavanaugh.  People have noticed.  People are sick of it.

There is hope.

  1. Another thing: Gillum rode the primaries appealing to the Bernie Bots and socialists. But now he has Michelle O and Hillary stumping for him and that has not gone unnoticed.

  2. I, too, have hope. But after living in Florida since 73, I have come to never underestimate the stupidity of the greater Mijami area and Tallahassee (and Alachua County (hwack-ptooie)) crowds.
